ENFit is a connector standard designed to reduce the risk of misconnections between enteral feeding systems and other medical devices. By making enteral components compatible with each other — and incompatible with non-enteral lines — it minimizes errors and protects patients.
ENFit is the enteral-specific connector defined under the ISO 80369 family of small-bore connectors (ISO 80369-3), created expressly so enteral devices cannot be joined to incompatible systems such as IV (Luer) or respiratory lines — a historic and dangerous source of tubing-misconnection errors.

Q Why can’t an ENFit syringe connect to an IV line?
That is the whole point. The geometry is deliberately incompatible with Luer and respiratory connectors, so a feed cannot be delivered into the wrong route.
