Start with the outlet structure, then define gauge and length

The visible difference is small, but it changes the geometry that must be manufactured and evaluated.

Double Side Vent

Two lateral ports are combined with a rounded closed end. The outlet count and relative position make port spacing, orientation, opening profile and edge condition important control points. Actual irrigation performance still depends on the complete device, delivery system and clinical technique.

Single Side Vent

One lateral port is combined with a rounded closed end, creating a directional outlet structure. Consistent port location, orientation and edge condition help the finished needle match the approved design. Notched Tip

What is the structural difference between a side-vent needle and a notched-tip needle?

A side-vent needle uses one or two lateral outlets with a closed distal end. A notched-tip needle uses a defined distal cut. They are distinct geometries and should be evaluated against the intended device requirements.

Can the outlet structure be evaluated separately from gauge and length?

Not completely. Distal geometry, lumen, wall thickness, outlet dimensions, working length and connection are interdependent. Prototypes and product-specific verification are needed before an OEM design is finalized.

What should an OEM buyer define before requesting samples?

The intended application, distal-tip concept, preferred gauge and length, hub and connection format, sterile or non-sterile supply, packaging concept, destination market and any required project documentation.

Does a side-vent design by itself guarantee a specific clinical outcome?
